Gas Installation Mentorship & Certification Support
At Deltool, we understand that some gas work must be done by those legally qualified — and that’s non-negotiable. Only SAQCC-Gas registered Gas Practitioners (“qualified gas practitioners”) are allowed under South African law to install, repair, commission, issue Certificates of Conformity (CoC), and certify gas installations in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER) and relevant SANS standards.
However, we also recognise that there are skilled DIY’ers, plumbers, and tradespeople who want to learn and do the installation work themselves, provided someone qualified oversees, checks, and certifies the result. That’s where our mentorship service comes in.
What We Offer
1. Full Mentorship from Design to Final Inspection
-
We help you design the gas system to meet all relevant SANS standards (e.g. SANS 10087, SANS 1539) so it’s safe, compliant, and practical.
-
We guide you (the DIY’er or subcontractor) through what components you’ll need, where/how to source compliant parts, the layout, piping, safety devices, shut-offs, ventilation, etc.
-
You do the physical work (labour, installation) under our supervision where needed.
2. Inspection & Certification
-
Once installed, a qualified Gas Practitioner (or under their mentorship) performs a thorough inspection and testing (pressure tests, leak checks, etc.).
-
If all is compliant, we issue or assist in getting a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) as required by PER and the SANS laws.
Who Benefits
-
DIY-ers who want to do their own installation but want expert guidance so it’s legal, safe, and insurable.
-
Subcontractors (e.g. plumbers, electricians) who want to expand their skillset into gas installations or take on gas work with confidence, knowing there’s certified oversight.
-
Home-owners or small developers wanting to ensure everything is done correctly to avoid insurance issues, safety risks, or future resale headaches.
Why This Is Important
-
Non-registered or un-qualified gas installations are illegal. You won’t be able to get a valid CoC, and insurance may refuse a claim if something goes wrong. Gas work involves major risks (leaks, fires, explosions). Following SANS standards (10087 etc.), and having work signed off by a registered practitioner, protects life, property, and legal liability.
-
Having legally compliant installations retains or improves property value and makes the sale or transfer process smoother.
Gas Repairs & Leak Detection
At Deltool, safety and compliance come first. Our team of qualified and accredited gas practitioners are trained to inspect, detect, and repair gas systems according to SANS 10087 and the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER).
Whether it’s a domestic, commercial, or industrial setup, we use reliable, approved testing methods to identify leaks and faults quickly — keeping your system safe, efficient, and compliant.
Our Service Includes:
-
Leak detection using calibrated gas-safe testing equipment.
-
System inspections to ensure compliance with SANS standards.
-
Repairs and replacements of faulty regulators, valves, fittings, and piping.
-
Pressure testing and certification after every repair.
-
On-site safety assessment and reporting to help prevent future issues.
We also assist clients who’ve had their installations done elsewhere — verifying safety, issuing reports, and where needed, bringing the system up to standard for Certificate of Conformity (CoC) approval.
If your gas system smells odd, performs poorly, or you just want peace of mind — Deltool’s qualified gas team can help.
